Just a few days into Autumn and the team are flat out at Plymouth Auctions. The saleroom has been inundated with valuations from sellers across Devon and Cornwall and other parts of the UK with collections of art and objects being collected from as far as Liverpool and London.
The main focus is the special two day anniversary auction later this month. Part two, on 28th September, showcases some 200 lots of selected jewellery and collectable watches. Auctioneer Paul Keen “we have a great selection of jewellery to suite all budgets and tastes, from engagement rings to fancy antique pieces”. The display cabinets are full of dazzling gems including lot 30, a nice mixed lot of gold pendants to include one set with cut amethyst, and an Art Nouveau piece with peridot. At £200 to £300 estimate this is good value for money. Nearby is lot 53, an 18ct white gold aquamarine and diamond cluster ring, finger size L, a pretty piece at £400 to £500.
The auction features several bracelet including lot 90, a stunning yellow gold bangle set with approx. 7.50 carats of round brilliant cut diamonds, this is expected to sell for £3,000 to £3,500.
Showing good proportions and quality is lot 55, a platinum marquise and brilliant cut diamond set full eternity ring, width 9.50mm, size M as is lot 68 a fine 18ct yellow gold & platinum ‘halo’ design ring set with a central cut emerald.
There are several antique pieces including the ornate Victorian flower design necklace in yellow gold set with round cabochon cut opals the flowers are set with seed pearls and rubies being offered with its in original box with a price range of £300 to £500.
A real show stopper is lot 95 , an impressive & ornate 18ct yellow gold ring is set with a central arched rectangular cabochon cut rose quartz, further set with a mixture of coloured sapphires, size R. This should sell close to £1,500.
Finally, we spotted a neat 19th century ornate pinchbeck hand painted scenic brooch, possibly French, an heirloom from a Devon family will be up for auction along with all the other lots on Wednesday 28th September from 6pm to 9pm.
