Rare Fijian War Club: A Masterpiece of Tribal History & Craftsmanship
An outstanding lot in the upcoming New Years Day Collector’s sale at Plymouth Auction Rooms is a 19th century Fijian Kiakavo.
This war club is coined the ‘gun stock’ club on account of its curved shape, which terminates in a ‘skull splitter’ ridge.
Discovered at Plymouth Auction Room’s regular valuation event at the Rose and Crown in the South Hams, this is a particularly fine example of the brutal weapon. With a finely carved zigzag grip and over a metre in length, its unearthing in Yealmpton is a fantastic discovery of one object’s journey from the other side of the world.
With an estimate of £400-600 in the New Years Day Collector’s sale, this exquisite historical artefact will be yours to own!
