An impressive platinum ring set with a central 7.99 carat cushion cut natural Sri Lankan sapphire, measuring 11.26 x 9.02 x 7.10mm, set with three tapered baguette cut diamonds to each side, total diamond weight approx. 0.65 carats (measured within the restrictions of the settings), 6.80gm, size P 1/2, (please note this ring is not hallmarked or tested by us but there is a small indistinct mark on the outside of the shank), comes with a Sapphire Report from The Gem & Pearl Laboratory dated 11 January 2013, number 07024, result natural sapphire with no evidence of heat treatment observed.

Rolex, an Oyster Perpetual Submariner, 100m - 330ft, gentleman's stainless steel wristwatch, circa 1959 with tropic dial and hands, fitted with steel and early jubilee bracelet, model number 6536-1, case number 399410, bezel believed to have been replaced 30 years ago. History: this watch was used in a Rolex advertising portfolio c1960. It is one of two submariner wristwatches given to Stanley Sayer by Rolex and has been in the family ever since. Stanley Sayer was a film cameraman working for Technicolour, he set up a special effects company and also worked on several film sets, including Superman and Star Wars. He was a keen diver and inventor of the minisub. Around 1959, Rolex were interested in using Stanley and his machine in their advertising portfolio and took a number of photos of him in action wearing one of their watches for publication. In payment for his services, he was invited to keep the watch that he wore in a press shoot (this watch, lot 212)  and also given a second submariner, which he gave to his son in 1961. He wore the watch daily until he passed away in April 2000. The watches have been consigned by his son.

Robert Lenkiewicz (1941-2002) a fine self portrait painting titled on reverse 'Self Portrait With Blue Scarf' also inscribed 'Non-Project Piece' and signed twice, oil on canvas, 72cm x 72cm, in a heavy 'Lenkiewicz' black frame and glazed. Provenance, The Somerville Gallery, 2006.

To be sold on behalf of the Eccles family, the important ‘Falklands War’ Military Medal group of four awarded to Corporal Michael Eccles, P028263C , 42 Commando RM, for his gallantry during operations on the Falkland Islands. Citation On 12th June 1982 ‘K' Coy was the leading company for a unit night attack against a strongly held Argentine position on Mount Harriet. After surprising the enemy fierce fighting followed at close quarters amongst the rocks in which decisive and inspiring leadership at section level proved critical. Corporal Eccles set an outstanding example in this respect by leading from the front to encourage his section to exploit shock action and successfully overrun the position. This was only achieved, in fact, by a series of assaults against machine gun positions and groups of snipers. Several ranks were wounded, including another section commander, while the troop became even more depleted as increasing numbers of the enemy surrendered and had to be guarded. Corporal Eccles pressed on relentlessly, however, to inflict sufficient casualties for the remainder to abandon further resistance. The set comprises: Military Medal, EIIR, for Bravery in the Field, (P028263C Cpl M. Robert Lenkiewicz (1941-2002) 'The Painter with Patti, Aristotle and Phyllis Theme' oil on canvas, 66" x 54", housed in a gilt framed. This painting was part of the Relationship Series painted around 1990, Project 18 Painter with Women, Observations on the Theme of the 'Double; it was exhibited in 1994 at the Birmingham ICC Exhibition and is featured in the exhibition catalogue on page 3. The exhibiting was organised by the Halcyon Gallery.
