PAR is the place to sell your art

The Summer Art Sale at Plymouth Auction Rooms saw prints and originals flying out of the saleroom at record-breaking prices on Wednesday evening. Headlined by over 70 Lenkiewicz pieces, both local and international collectors were engaged in fierce bidding wars to secure some never-before-seen paintings.

Lot 5, a self-portrait of the artist sold to an international phone bidder in America for an astounding £6,200 including BP, which shows a real uplift in the market for Lenkiewicz originals.

This was followed in quick succession by ‘Gravestones by the Oak’ going under the gavel for £6,800, ‘Rachel’ selling for £5,700 and ‘Estuary, Early Evening’ off to a local bidder for £6,300.

Auctioneer Paul Keen said “We had a real appetite for some fresh-to-the-market material and it made for an exciting sale! This solidifies Plymouth Auction Rooms’ status as the go-to for Robert Lenkiewicz”.

Later on in the evening, a Private Collection of over 40 Beryl Cook signed editions sold for £8,000 including buyers premium. Classics such as ‘Dancing on the Bar’, ‘Dog in the Dolphin’ and ‘A Bathroom’ went under the hammer for well over estimate in this near-sell-out auction.

This buoyant art sale shows that there is a real appetite for popular Westcountry artists, and that Plymouth Auction Rooms are the leading auctioneers in their field.

The team are now busy preparing for the next Art Auction in October, so please do get in touch by calling 01752 254740 to consign your artwork, or fill out a valuation form here.
