Plymouth Auction Rooms are delighted to launch our specialist valuation events for Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art, covering a wide range of Chinese antiques. With the addition of a former Sotheby’s expert to our fast-growing team, there is no doubt that their wealth of experience within the industry will allow us to excel in this particular speciality.
With such high demand for Asian antiques underpinned by collectors from China, salerooms have produced incredible prices in recent years. Woolley & Wallis in particular has seen some great pieces in their department. An exceptional and extremely rare Chinese Imperial White Jade carving of a recumbent deer with its young (Qing Dynasty Qianlong Period 1736-95) sold under the gavel for an astounding £3,200,000.
Here at Plymouth Auction Rooms, we sold a rare pair of KANGXI birds for a remarkable £200,000 to an international collector. This secured interest in Chinese antiques and since then we’ve sold regular items of interest up into the thousands.
