Antiques and Collectables from a Barbican Apartment
A recent house call to an apartment situated on Sutton Harbour yielded a wonderful collection of art pottery, silver and collectables. Following instructions to provide a valuation for probate purposes we visited the property and carefully appraised all the saleable items. The single bedroom property was packed with all manner of curios and collectables, but the principal contents were a lifetimes collection of Doulton art pottery, together with cabinets of collectable antique silverwares. We also noted the impressive run of mid-century Ladderax shelving, which has now become very fashionable and collectable.
Following our valuation, we were further instructed to collect and auction those saleable items. Once they were brought back to the Saleroom, they were sorted, catalogued, photographed and prepared for auction. In amongst the Doulton art collection were rare pieces by Florence and Hannah Barlow, together with interesting collectables such as an 19th century music box, Irish silver, and Japanese ceramics.
The collection will be coming up for auction on the 6th April, and we anticipate it to sell in excess of £3,000.
