From Georgian Rings to Modern Gems: Plymouth Auction Unveils Stunning Jewellery
Plymouth Auction Rooms’ November fine jewellery sale is one of the highlights of the year. With nearly 300 lots of fine jewellery and watches, the sale is perfectly timed for Christmas, offering a sparkling selection of diamonds and collectable pieces.
The auction features diamond engagement rings, high-carat line bracelets, Georgian mourning rings, and a striking array of brooches.
Brooch Highlights:
We’ve picked out some of the most eye-catching brooches in the sale:
A 9ct gold brooch set with amethyst, diamond, and peridot in a leaf design by Bernard Instone (1891–1987). Instone, a highly regarded jeweller, designer, and silversmith of the later British Arts and Crafts movement, makes this a highly collectible piece, with bids anticipated from around £300.
A finely carved 1920s antique jade pendant set with diamonds and enamel, expected to sell for over £500.
An impressive four-colour gold and diamond pheasant brooch, guide £600–800. Also featured is a silver dragonfly brooch, convertible to a pendant, set with multi-coloured tourmalines, diamonds, and rubies.
Top Brooch Highlight: An exquisite Garrard & Co. diamond and enamel brooch depicting a family of swans on a water scene, approximately 16.5g, complete with its original box, guide £1,500–£1,800.
