Coming up for auction at Plymouth Auction Rooms on the 8th of October are the autographs of the American slapstick comedy duo Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy.
The signatures of the world-renowned comedians are hidden amidst pages of a deeply personal autograph album of friends’ names and proverbial advice to the owner in 1947-8, a little girl who waited in line patiently at the Wimbledon Stadium for Laurel and Hardy while they were on tour in the UK. When the comedy duo met the committed fan, the pair supposedly picked her up and kissed her on the head, inserting their names among her collection of those close to her. The autographs will be going under the gavel in the Antiques, Silver & Collectables Auction on 8th October at Plymouth Auction Rooms.
