As the Plymouth Watch auction approaches, we have taken some time to sit down with Specialist Watch Valuer, Richard Sheppard, and ask him about his five favourite pieces coming up. In the run-up to this auction he has taken in rare early Rolex and Omega watches, alongside high value ‘bling’ diamond set fashion watches.
“There is a watch and price to suit all tastes and budgets” enthuses Richard.
First up is Lot 203, a 1967 ladies 18ct gold Rolex Oyster Perpetual wristwatch. It is in well-kept condition, complete with box and paper, and the guide of £1,500 should prove it popular. Always drawing attention are Omega Speedmaster ‘Moon’ watches. On offer is Lot 208, a gents 2005 stainless steel model, in excellent order. You will need to bid £2,500 to £3,000 to be in the ‘running’ for this one.
For an investment perhaps is the 1970’s Eura Valsoux 7765 mechanical hand-wind chronograph wristwatch, a neat watch with a guide of £3,000. (Lot 211)
More scarce is the Omega 18ct yellow gold ‘Fab Suisse’ rectangular wristwatch. A real collector’s item that could make a couple of thousand (Lot 207). Finally is Lot 209, a good Omega gents stainless steel ‘Seamaster’ Co-Axial chronometer wristwatch, with silver blue tone, baton dial, which has been valued at £1,800 to £2,000.
